Spotlight PA is teaming up with Midtown Scholar Bookstore in Harrisburg for "Matter of Fact," a new quarterly series of community conversations, panels, and presentations exploring the most pressing issues shaping our commonwealth — and the people working to make it stronger.
The series kicks off Tuesday, June 9, from 6–7 p.m. with "The Local News Crossroads: How We Got Here — and Where We Go Next." All tickets are free and open to the public.
There are more forces than ever working to silence free and fearless reporting, and fewer resources than ever to support the independent, investigative journalism that holds government accountable to "We the People." Join Spotlight PA CEO & President Christopher Baxter and David Boardman — who led the Seattle Times to four Pulitzer Prizes before becoming dean of the Klein College of Media and Communication at Temple University — for a conversation on why a free society and a free press are inextricably linked. An open audience Q&A will follow.
At Spotlight PA, our work is more than writing stories — it's about being a positive force in our communities for discussion, learning, and change for the better. "Matter of Fact" brings that mission to life, creating space for people in the Harrisburg area to come together, ask questions, and engage with the issues that matter most.
